Who we are

Indian-Australian in origin. South Asian in reach.

The Humanism Project is a secular, not-for-profit social justice organisation. It is volunteer-run and independent of any political party, government or religious body.

THP was formed in March 2020 by people of Indian origin in Australia who shared concerns about rising Islamophobia, caste and gender-based violence, and the erosion of civil liberties in India.

That concern has not gone away. But the work has grown. Racism, extremism and disadvantage do not stop at a border, and neither does the responsibility to respond. Today THP works primarily in Australia on the issues that shape the lives of South Asian communities here, while continuing to speak plainly about human rights wherever they are under threat.
